Delhi and the NCR region have been witnessing temperatures on the higher side of the fence. In fact, the national capital's Safdarjung observatory recorded the highest maximum yesterday at 42.9 degrees Celsius. Moreover, today was even worse.
Maximum temperatures saw a further rise in the mercury levels and Safdarjung recorded its maximum at 43.7 degrees Celsius. This is the highest maximum of the season so far and is 4 degrees above the normal levels.
Weather conditions will be hot tomorrow but there might be a slight drop in the mercury levels. However, massive relief from these heat wave like conditions is only expected around after a couple of days.
Delhi is expected to experience decent showers on a few days between May 24th and 27th. During the period from May 24th to 26th, heavy rain, thundershowers, and gale-speed winds are anticipated, accompanied by lightning and a possibility of hailstorms.
Furthermore, starting from the 24th, the heatwave will subside, lasting for the remainder of the month. The minimum temperatures will also decrease, reaching the low 20s for approximately 4-5 days. Notably, the Safdarjung observatory has already recorded 61mm of rainfall, surpassing the monthly average of 29.4mm. An additional 50-60 mm of precipitation is expected during this spell, bringing the total rainfall to a three-digit figure this month.
