Delhi records colder than usual nights, temperature to drop further

Delhi has been recording night temperature below the normal from the third week of October onward. The minimum temperature recorded at base observatory Safdarjung has been below 15°C after 15th October and is likely to continue in the remaining days of the month. No rainfall has been registered so far and it is likely to remain dry till the month-end.

The normal rainfall for the month of October is 14.3mm and most of it is realized with the retreating southwest monsoon invariably during the first half of the month. The monthly average minimum temperature for October stands at 19.1°C. The month generally starts with a normal of 21-22°C and ends with 16-17°C as per the pentad minimum temperature averaged for the representative observatory at Safdarjung. This season so far, the capital city has been colder than the normal by about 1°C so far and the average night temperature between 01st October and 26th October has been recorded at 18°C against the monthly normal of 19.1°C. The lowest minimum so far is recorded at 13.7°C on 20th October. The average for the month is going to drop in the remaining days as the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 13-14°C.

The average minimum temperature for the month of October is expected to end in the range of 17-17.5°C, about 1.5°C below the normal. Misty morning with very light breeze giving nip in the air and clear sky with pleasantly warm days look to be in the offing to welcome November. The minimum temperatures drop significantly in November from 16°C to start and finish with around 10°C.
