Widespread rain in Delhi last night ruined New Year party plans of many. Rain in Delhi started around 5 in the evening and carried on in intervals throughout the night, making Delhiites shiver. The Safdurjung station recorded 6 mm of rain, while Palam recorded 3 mm.

With good amounts of rain in Delhi in just a day, the rainfall figures for the month of December settled near the normal average of 7.5 mm.

As a result of rain and cloud cover minimums in Delhi rose drastically from 2.4⁰C on Monday to 10.9⁰C on Tuesday morning. However, the maximum in Delhi will drop significantly today, settling at around 17⁰C and resulting in cold day like conditions.

“Weather models at Skymet show that the weather in Delhi during the first day of the new year could be nice and clear, only to become cloudy once again on Saturday with the possibility of more rain in Delhi. A fresh Western Disturbance over the weekend will give rain in Delhi and will also bring more snow in Jammu and Kashmir”, said a senior meteorologist at Skymetweather.com
