Delhi Rains have displayed a power packed performance during the last few days. So much so that the city recorded the wettest day in July in a decade just about a day before. Roads were jam packed with annoyed commuters stuck in traffic jams.
Thousands were seen struggling in knee deep waters in Gurugram when they had nowhere to go during the wee hours on Thursday night. Traffic conditions were quite similar in Delhi on Friday and some parts of Saturday as well.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Palam observatory in Delhi recorded 8.8 mm of rain. Other areas in Delhi also received good rains during the same time frame including Safdarjung where 22.4 mm of rain was recorded along with Ayanagar which received 13.4 mm of rain.
The month of July has finally come to an end and rainfall figures of Delhi are definitely good news. During the month, Delhi recorded a whopping 352.2 mm of rainfall which happens to be more than double its monthly mean. The monthly average rainfall of Delhi stands at 174.4 mm.
August is expected to begin on a rainy note as well as Delhi rains are likely to continue for another 24 hours. During this period, the possibility of a few good rainy spells cannot be ruled out. Thereafter, rainfall intensity will reduce however, on and off light rain will continue.
Again around the weekend, rain intensity in Delhi is expected to pick up pace which is why Delhiites may once again witness a rainy weekend.
