Delhi rains to remain patchy, dry weather to continue

The capital of the country has been enduring with dry weather conditions since August 11. Although, isolated pockets of Delhi and NCR region have received short spells but these rains were entirely due to the local development of clouds.

The last 24 hours were also no different and almost dry weather prevailed over Delhi and its adjoining regions of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, presently the humidity is high over the region and temperatures are also settling in the mid-30s to higher 30s.

Therefore, at times small patches of thunderclouds can develop during afternoon hours. These clouds may give short spell of thundershowers covering limited areas. Further, similar weather conditions are likely to continue for another 24 hours.

By August 19, the axis of monsoon trough that is currently running close to the foothills of Himalayas will shift towards Delhi. Moreover, the wind pattern will also change from dry westerly winds to humid easterlies.

In wake of this, we expect scattered rain and thundershowers over many parts of Delhi and NCR. These intermittent showers will continue for the next 3 to 4 days. During this period as well, humidity will increase significantly leading to uneasiness among the locals.
