Delhi rains have been a happy affair for the residents for quite some time now. While some areas have seen light showers making an appearance while heavy rains have been a common phenomenon for many others. Rains were so heavy the day before yesterday that waterlogging was observed over many parts of Delhi with flights being delayed to and from the national capital.
Even yesterday, rainfall activity was observed over Delhi and the NCR region during the late evening hours. In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Palam witnessed moderate showers to the tune of 17 mm, while Safdarjung saw 5.8 mm of rainfall, Ayanagar recorded 9.8 mm of rainfall, and Ridge saw 9.3 mm of rain.
Now, rainfall activity is expected to occur even today at some parts of Delhi while showers are expected to occur in patches even tomorrow as the western end of the axis of the Monsoon trough is expected to move northwards due to weakening of the low pressure over Rajasthan.
Thereafter, rainfall activity is expected to reduce significantly after 24 hours along with which winds will also change from easterlies to westerlies. However, humidity will continue to prevail over the national capital along with rise in maximum temperatures resulting in discomfort.
On the other hand, night will remain pleasant, moreover, on the cooler side resulting in some drop in the minimum temperatures.
