Delhi rains to now take a backseat, Yamuna crosses danger mark

Delhi rains had picked up pace in the last few days had wreaked havoc over the national capital resulting in massive traffic chaos and waterlogging in many parts of the national capital. Moreover, due to these rains, Yamuna river has breached its banks and water levels are likely to increase further five lakh cusecs of water released by the Hathni Kund Barrage will reach Delhi today.

So far about 1500 people have moved from low-lying areas. In the eastern parts, at least 550 tents have been placed across 10 locations. For more accommodations, schools and night shelters will be used.

Talking about the rains, they have already reduced with rainfall being light during the last 24 hours. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, both Palam and Safdarjung observatory saw 5 mm of rainfall, each.

The feeble low pressure which is currently over northwestern parts of Uttar Pradesh is gradually moving northwards and weakening. The axis of Monsoon trough is passing across North Haryana and North Uttar Pradesh, which is north of Delhi.

Thus, westerly winds will now prevail over the national capital which are dry and warm in nature. Thus, clouding will decrease from the national capital. Due to local heating, and close proximity of the axis of Monsoon trough, isolated places may see light rains for short durations during next 24 hours.

Temperatures will continue to be on the rise and the days which were pleasant before will become warm once again.
