Delhi rains have remained far and few with the city not receiving rainfall activities as such. While the rains had been a bumper one during the month of July, there has been less than 70 mm in the first two and a half weeks of August combined.
However, now it seems like that Delhi rains are once again likely to make a comeback with some heavier showers in between. These rains are likely to be isolated in nature tonight as well as tomorrow. There is a possibility of some sporadic weather activity due to the proximity of the low pressure.
But then, rainfall activity are expected to be moderate to heavy in nature during the weekend, i.e. August 20 and 21. The reason for such rains will be attributed to the closing in of the low pressure area.
In fact, the Monsoon trough, which had been far away from Delhi has already started showing signs of shifting, humidity has increased and winds have become easterlies. The trough will shift south of Delhi.
We can expect two days of good rains, which may help in recovering from the rainfall deficiency. Along with this, temperatures which have increased to a whopping 38 degrees Celsius will also see a drop.
The maximum temperatures have seen an increase in Delhi to the late 30s, one month later, last being observed on July 17.
