Delhi rains likely to continue; humidity levels to remain

July and August are the two rainiest months for Delhi during Southwest Monsoon. Southwest Monsoon initiates in the long stretch of June and pulls back in the period of September, exactly, a fortnight after withdrawal phase begins in Rajasthan.

Normally, the month of August is marked to be the rainiest month wherein most rainfall is seen for the national capital. However, this year, rains have stayed sketchy and isolated in nature for the national capital.

On the day before as well, some isolated rains were recorded in parts of Delhi and NCR. However, these rains were so patchy to be recorded by the observatories. The sky mostly remained cloudy with a slight rise in humidity levels as well.

As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough is now passing across Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh up to the Bay of Bengal. The trough is expected to shift slightly southwards due to the formation of the low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Gangetic plains.

Thus, the short spell of rains may occur at some parts over Delhi with warm and humid day conditions during the next 24 hours. The westerly winds would prevail with moderate intensity. In fact, Delhi may see some sharp showers in some parts as well.

The city has so far recorded 121 mm of precipitation against its normal of 232.5 mm of precipitation. Along these lines, the city has recorded a portion of its rains this time amid the period of August and with pretty much seven days left it doesn't appear that Delhi will have the capacity to outperform its month to month mean.
