Delhi rains to increase now, moderate showers from tomorrow

July 14, 2023 3:44 PM |

Delhi and the NCR region have seen some intense rainfall activities in the month of July. Moreover, so far, Delhi has recorded 308 mm of rain against the monthly average of 195.8 mm. There were two incidences of three-digit rains which resulted in such high rain figures this time.

For the past four days, however, it has been very quiet for Delhi and the NCR and only 11 mm of showers have been recorded. Today also, we do not expect any significant weather activity.

However, rains are expected to pick up over Delhi and the NCR. Starting tomorrow, there is a likelihood of some light to moderate showers over the national capital, which may last until July 18. Rains are not likely to be heavy as they were in the previous spell but as compared to the past 3-4 days, we expect spread and intensity to increase.

These rains are in association with the oscillation of the trough. The trough will move northward, and anytime the oscillation happens, rains increase. The trough will come down again when the Circulation forms in the Bay of Bengal, wherein rains may slightly reduce.
