June ended on a rainy note for Delhi and so did the month of July began. Rains were occurring over Delhi before the arrival of Southwest Monsoon over the region and the moment Monsoon covered Delhi and NCR, rains refrained themselves from showing up.
It was on July 6 that Delhi had recorded some spells after which, the weather went on to become dry and it is predicted that now, the weather will most likely remain dry only.
On account of the dry weather, the mercury levels which were at once settling at 31°C also shot up to settle at 35°C.

Due to the prevalence of continued dry weather, the maximum temperature may further rise beyond and may settle near 37-38°C. However, a trough is seen extending from Uttarakhand to Northeast Bay of Bengal across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Hence, localized rainfall activity may be a chance.
The monthly average rainfall for Delhi as per the Safdarjung Observatory stands at 187.3 mm and till date, Delhi has recorded 59 mm of rainfall. In a way, it is yet a wait and watch situation if Delhi manages to surpass its monthly mean.
