Delhi rains to continue, Monsoon withdrawal to be delayed over national capital

Delhi rains have been on the heavier side in some parts with some heavy showers recorded in the last 24 hours in some of the areas. On the other hand, some regions have recorded very light rains. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Delhi University 85.5 mm, Ridge 88.8 mm, Najafrgarh 24 mm, while Palam saw nil, Safdarjung 0.2 mm.

Delhi and the NCR region will continue to see patchy rains in the next four to five days, which will further delay the withdrawal process. Rains will be on the higher side both today and tomorrow. Clouding has only increased in parts of Delhi and the NCR region at present.

These showers are in view of the Circulation of the Low-Pressure Area, which is over Central Madhya Pradesh and adjoining. The system will meander around here probably around Southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. A Western Disturbance is over the mountainous regions as well, which is further giving rains.

Rains will once again be slightly intense on September 24 and 25 with some spot-heavy showers. These showers are expected to delay the withdrawal process of Monsoon over Delhi NCR by a few days with the normal date being September 25.

During the withdrawal time, the unpredictability becomes high over parts with a few sporadic showers increasing in a few areas and some hits and misses. Delhi has been observing a large deficit this time and is currently rain deficient by 33 percent.
