According to Skymet meteorologist Mahesh Palawat, the weather condition is going to prevail for another 2-3 hours. This spell of rain is certainly going to bring down the pollution levels in Delhi and its adjoining areas.
Updated on Feb 7, 10:27 am - Delhi rains to continue for another 24 hours; maximums to drop
As predicted, the national capital Delhi has been witnessing on and off rain and thundershower activities since the last 24 hours. However, on Thursday morning, slight increase in rain intensity has been observed over Delhi and its adjoining areas of Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.
In fact, in the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, with spells of light rain, Safdarjung Observatory has recorded 0.1 mm of rain, followed by trace of rain recorded by the Palam Observatory.
At present, the active Western Disturbance lies over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Its induced cyclonic circulation is seen over northwestern parts of the country.
Now, during the next two to three hours, we expect clouding to increase over Delhi-NCR region. However, another spell of rain is expected during the late afternoon or evening hours of February 7.
Thus, we can say that light rain and thundershower with few moderate spells are likely over Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad during the next 24 hours.
Due to these ongoing rains, maximums over Delhi-NCR region are also expected to drop. With this significant drop, cold day condition may also be a possibility over few parts of Delhi. Along with this, during the upcoming two to three days, Delhi’s fog and pollution levels will remain mostly on the lower side.
