Delhi and the NCR region have been seeing some light and patchy rains on a regular basis for the past couple of days. In fact, even in the coming days, these spells of rain may continue on a regular basis.
As far as withdrawal is concerned, the country starts the Monsoon withdrawal around September 17 and Delhi's normal date is September 25. However, it looks like the national capital may overshoot this date by a slight margin.
The Monsoon withdrawal from any region is announced only once dry weather conditions prevail continuously for about 4-5 days. Once the Monsoon has withdrawn from a region, some light rains may follow but when rains of any intensity are continuing, Monsoon withdrawal cannot be announced.
Delhi rains are expected to be seen on a daily basis for at least 4-5 days from now. These rains will not be intense but only patchy in nature, nevertheless, rainfall will be seen until about September 25-26.
Reason for these rains is due to the oscillation of the Monsoon trough in proximity of the city. The oscillation is taking place because of two reasons, one being the system over the Bay of Bengal which has moved inside and is controlling the movement of the trough. A feeble Western Disturbance is over the mountainous regions, which is also influencing the movement of the trough.
When the Monsoon system from the Bay comes the closest to Delhi around September 21 and 22, which will activate Monsoon trough, due to which rains may be slightly intense.
