Delhi rains arrived and arrived with a bang. After a long wait, Delhiites finally got to relish a rainy and a pleasant weekend. This made the people of Delhi and NCR come out of their house to enjoy the pleasant weather.

Delhi and NCR have been receiving patchy rains in the month July. In fact, there is a large difference in the amount of rainfall recorded in different locations of the city during the similar time frame.

This could be traced out from the past two occasions, firstly, on July 20 when Safdarjung Observatory recorded 24.2 mm of rains while Palam Observatory did record any traces of rainfall.

On the similar note, in the last 24 hours also, Delhi’s Palam Observatory recorded a whopping 70 mm of rains, meanwhile, only 18 mm of rains was recorded by the Safdarjung Observatory.

However, despite these patchy showers, Delhi's Safdarjung Observatory has been able to surpass its monthly average which stands at 187.3 mm and at 174.4 mm for Palam Observatory. Until now, Safdarjung Observatory recorded 203.9 mm of rains, and Palam recorded 166.9 mm of rains.

These rainy spells also forced the temperatures to take a dip and thus, the maximums that were settling close to the 37-degree mark three days back, dropped to settle beneath the 35-degree mark. Though a fair amount of humidity, due to the southeasterly flow of winds did bother the residents.

As of now also, Skymet Weather expects the rains to continue over the city for some more days. As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation can be seen over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan. This weather system is expected to shift northwards, in the proximity of Delhi and NCR.

In addition to this, the axis of Monsoon Trough is passing south of Delhi which would also shift up towards Delhi. Hence, the combination of all the two weather systems would be responsible for giving some more rains over the national capital and its adjoining areas. The intensity of the rains would be more tomorrow and day after with lesser possibilities today. Though passing showers can be expected. The weather would continue to remain comfortable.
