Delhi and its adjoining regions of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad have received good rainfall on July 1, when it recorded 38 mm of rainfall and on July 11, when the national capital witnessed 11 mm of rains. While on July 19 and 20, Delhi and its neighboring areas witnessed some good spells of rain.

These rains brought much respite to the residents from the prevailing warm and humid conditions. However, this relief did not stayed for long as the humid weather yet again took over. The mercury level has also observed a surge.
Currently, the maximum temperature over the region is settling around 36°C, whereas the minimum stands at 27°C.
The reason for this situation can be attributed to the southward move of the axis of Monsoon trough that is extending from Gujarat to Bay of Bengal across Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

As the Monsoon trough is likely to shift gradually towards the north, the rainfall intensity will increase. At this time, moderate easterly winds are blowing over the region that may benefit in short spells over parts of Delhi and its neighboring regions. Warm and humid weather will continue. With this rainy spell of short duration, some relief can be expected over the national capital.
For the month of July, the monthly average rainfall for Delhi stands at 187.3, in comparison the region has just recorded 140.1 mm of rainfall.
