Several parts of Delhi NCR witnessed some drizzle in the latter part of the day today. Though the intensity remained mainly light, yet the rains were able to bring down soaring temperatures to some level and bring in some relief from the prevailing unpleasant weather.
These rains were due to the thundercloud formation over some parts of Central and East Delhi. Also, a few places like Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar area witnessed some rains.
At present, easterlies are prevailing over Delhi and NCR. And the Axis of Monsoon Trough is passing from South of Delhi.
Today the day temperatures had already reached close to 35 degree Celsius over Delhi. As the Relative Humidity was 60%, thus the feel effect was somewhat like 37 degree Celsius. These temperatures are above normal by three to four degrees. Minimum temperatures also are above normal by two to three degrees over the region.
We do not expect any significant break from such a situation. However, availability of sufficient moisture and high temperatures may trigger some more thundershower activities towards afternoon and evening hours, in some pockets of Delhi and NCR.
Normally, thunderclouds develop over a few areas and dissipate within a short span. These thundershower activities remain constricted over a few areas giving short spells of rains and thundershowers. As a result, we might get more humid conditions later. Such a situation is likely to continue over Delhi and NCR during the next two to three days.
