Delhi rains have finally made a comeback and the residents couldn’t have asked for more. The national capital where a bright sunny day accompanied with extreme humidity had become a common feature, has finally become overcast and pleasant. So much so that the city has been receiving good rains for two consecutive days now.
The Safdarjung observatory had recorded a good 13 mm of rain just a day ago after a prolonged hot and humid spell. Soon after, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, the observatory recorded 23.6 mm of rain taking the monthly total for July to 36.6 mm which is 3 mm more than rains recorded in the month of June.
Light rain of a mere 3.8 mm was recorded at the Palam observatory during this period. Other zones of Delhi have also recorded good rains with Ridge receiving 12 mm of rain and Ayanagar recording 18.7 mm of rain.
Southwest Monsoon has not yet made an onset over Delhi and the NCR region. While the onset has been slightly delayed, conditions do seem favourable for the Southwest Monsoon to make a grand entrance over Delhi anytime in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Also, during the next two to three days, the national capital is expected to receive good rains. The ongoing pre-Monsoon showers will be replaced by Monsoon rains giving the residents the gift that they’ve all been waiting for.
