Summer heat in Delhi takes a breather as temperatures drop

May 30, 2016 11:36 AM | Skymet Weather Team

Soaring Delhi temperature suddenly took a dip due to overnight rain. Continues rain during late evening hours on May 28 and May 29 and a rainy morning today have contributed in bringing down the soaring temperature to 25°C from 42°C observed over the weekend.

“Thundershowers will take a break. They will return during the evening hours. Chances of light rain are possible on May 31 as well due to moisture lingering in the atmosphere,” says Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist, Skymet Weather.

The cool winds travelling from Delhi, Punjab and Haryana have also brought relief from the heatwave conditions in Telangana as heatwave has abated in that area.

Delhi temperature which has dropped by 5-6 degrees below normal is likely to remain arrested till 48 hours. During last two days Delhi has received close to 8 mm of rain. With possibility of more thundershowers and light rain today and tomorrow, Delhi weather is expected to remain pleasant for another day or two.
