Delhi air pollution

Delhiites have been constantly taking in the contaminated air which is hazardous to health and can invite several respiratory ailments. Despite taking all possible measures, Delhi’s air quality does not seem to bring any scope of improvements.

The various factors that contribute to the ever-deteriorating air quality in Delhi include vehicular emissions, stubble burning, and the residue derived from constructional burning. As per Skymet Weather, weather also plays a role in contaminating Delhi’s air and there are various weather factors that lead to air contamination.

Firstly, the contaminated air carrying pollutants from the nearby states of Punjab and Haryana wherein stubble burning is being practiced immensely. Secondly, the speed of the wind and finally the temperatures.

The prevailing wind speed is very light and calm in nature due to which the pollutants in the atmosphere does not get dispersed. Moreover, as the temperatures are also decreasing, the layer of mist or haze gets formed.

Thus, the smog formation can be easily seen prevailing over Delhi and NCR especially during the early morning hours. However, this smog layer fades away during the daytime as the temperatures climb up marginally.

As of now, the pollution level across Delhi and the adjoining regions are expected to remain high as the wind speed currently is light in nature. For the next 48 hours, the level of pollution is likely to remain grounded thereafter, a slight improvement is likely as a change in wind reversal is anticipated and the flow of northwesterly will take over the southeasterly moist winds.

However, it is better to avoid stepping out as staying indoor is advisable by the medical experts.
