The month of November observes dry and pleasant weather for Delhi. Winter rains start making their presence felt during the month of December and generally continue till the month of February. With commencement of December, fog also starts making an appearance that varies from shallow to dense.
Last showers over Delhi NCR were observed on November 14. With rains in hiding, the weather in the month remained warm, with above normal night temperatures that even went up to 13.4℃, which is average for the month.
Comparing with the previous years data, minimums over last 12 years were recorded around 12.5℃, whereas average minimums is around 12.9℃. In the last four days, a gradual drop in minimums has been observed that were even recorded in single digit.
However, if we compare these minimums with that of November 2018, then no single digit minimum was observed over Delhi. Since November 15, dry weather has been prevailing over entire India’s capital territory.
However, with the beginning of December, minimums temperatures recorded a drop and slipped in the single digit category. Monday as well as Tuesday morning, minimum settled around 8.6℃, which is generally considered as normal.
If we talk about the average normal temperatures, minimums during mid December remain around 8℃ and by the end of month, minimums fall to 6℃-7℃.
At present, no significant weather system such as Western Disturbance or Cyclonic Circulation can be foreseen in proximity to Delhi. As a result, dry weather is expected to continue for at least next one week. Moreover, single digit minimums around 8℃-9℃ are likely to continue for next two days.
In the presence of light winds and absence of any significant weather system, no major improvement in pollution of Delhi is expected and it will continue to remain under ‘very poor’ state.
