Pollution levels in Delhi and its adjoining areas have continued to settle in the moderate category, during the last 24 hours. The reason for this is the strong winds from the west/northwest direction which are not allowing the pollutants to accumulate and settle in the air.
Now in the coming days, as rain and thundershower activities are expected to occur over Delhi and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, pollution will reduce further and come under satisfactory category. We can say that in the wake of consecutive weather activities in the coming days, pollution over Delhi and NCR will remain under moderate to satisfactory category.
The winter season in Delhi and NCR has ended in excess, and we expect the month of March to end on a similar note. We expect light to moderate rain and thundershower activities over Delhi and NCR area on March 11, while isolated on March 12.
Thereafter, another Western Disturbance, after a short break of 24 hours will approach the Western Himalayas. As a result of this system, another spell of rain is expected around March 14 over Delhi and NCR, with intensity oscillating between light and moderate. However, the chances of hailstorm during this period are completely ruled out.
According to Skymet Weather, these rains will be beneficial in washing out air pollutants and bringing down the levels to ‘satisfactory’ category over most places.
