For good two to three days, inhabitants of Delhi-NCR witnessed much better air quality, specifically between November 23-25. As per the experts, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir, thus leading to change in wind direction.
It is obvious that whenever the winds will change their path, wind speed would reduce. Presently, situation seems similar, i.e. the light winds have increased pollution levels once again.
The difference is evident, the Air Quality Index which was earlier around 300 has now made a jump to 346. The pollution levels have once again entered in 'poor' to 'very poor' zone which was earlier in 'moderate' category.
As per the weathermen, isolated pockets of Delhi-NCR are even in 'severe' category. According to Skymet Weather, easterly winds would continue for at least next 2-3 days. Wind speed would also remain light, mostly below 10 kmph. This tells us that pollution levels will remain in 'very poor' category until November 29.
Since the wind direction is also not definite, this too won’t be able to help in clearing pollution.
The temperatures will remain on lower side and due to this mist and haze could be seen. The local pollutants and smoke get mingled with mist and haze, leading to increased pollution levels in morning and evening hours.
However, marginal relief might be witnessed around November 30. Till then, time has once again come to be very careful and cautious while stepping out of the house.
