For the past few months, the pollution index over Delhi-NCR remained on the lower end. The national capital was experiencing mainly dry weather with few Monsoon showers resulting in comfortable weather.

However, once again, Delhi and its adjoining areas are likely to be gripped by air pollution.

According to Central Government Agency, the air quality has begun to deteriorate September 27 onward. There is no look back and the weather situation is likely to become all the worse in the upcoming days.

Thus, we can say that the weather conditions along with the festive season being on the doorstep will only make matters worse in terms of pollution levels. Moreover, no major weather system is foreseen over the region that may turn the tables, leading to livable weather.

Consequently, Delhiites will have to deal with degrading air quality that may cause breathing discomfort and other respiratory as well as vision problems due to prolonged exposure to such air. With this, each segment of life will be severely affected be it children, adults or old.

The major contributors to these deadly pollutants are dust from construction sites, vehicular emissions, smoke from power plants and factories, burning of crops in the neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana and fire crackers which will follow as Diwali approaches.

A proper thought is needed to bear with such weather situation. One of the ways could be proper disposal of the road dust, another could be a strict control over traffic and industry smoke. Along with this the possible rains and strong winds would carry away the pollution and clear sky.
