Delhi Pollution: Deteriorating air quality to choke city again, to enter very poor category soon

Extended Monsoon season had kept air pollution in Delhi at bay till now. But slowly and steadily Delhi pollution is once again seeping in the national capital and adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram and Faridabad.

Many areas have already entered poor to very poor category zone, with Air Quality Index maintaining between 150 to 300. According to Skymet Weather, the situation is all set to become worse in the coming days, with AQI slipping into hazardous zone. In fact, few places would fall into this category on Saturday itself.

According to Skymet Weather, at present, light variable winds are bowing over the national capital region. Due to frequent change in the wind direction, there has been disturbance in the atmosphere which has resulted in accumulation of local pollutants over Delhi-NCR.

Besides this, there also has been increase in stubble burning in the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana. Due to occasional flow of northwesterly winds for short duration, pollutants from stubble burning has also been reaching the city. Though it has not been a major concern till now, but now with Monsoon retreating and winds to soon start blowing from northwest direction, Delhi pollution would now set on soaring spree.

With this, air pollution would soon start choking Delhiites.

As per weathermen, we do not expect any respite from soaring air quality during the next few days. Only respite would be seen when winds would pick up pace. Only these moderate winds could clear the pollution up to some extent.
