Delhi Observes Warm Days And Nights: Light Rain Likely Tonight

The national capital has observed dry weather conditions for the last one month.  Rain and showers were experienced on 11th October and bare & barren thereafter. November, as such is the least rainiest month with a mere 4.1mm of average rainfall. Even this small normal skips the city at times to record 'duck' for the entire month.

There has been a trail of weak to moderate Western Disturbances affecting the mountains of North India for the last two weeks. Weather activity has mostly been confined to hills without any spill over for the plains. Northern hilly states have been lashed with rain and snow but the breaks, in between, remained short and few.

Accordingly, the chilly effect normally seen trickling down the slopes to the plains gave amiss. Days and nights have generally remained warmer than normal for the capital city in November, so far.

During the first 10 days of November, mean minimum temperature works out to be around 15 degrees. However, the actual mercury level stayed at 16.5degree, much warmer than expected.  The morning temperature had earlier dropped to 14 degrees on 25th October but consistently risen in November to record 17 degrees or more for the last 5 days. Even, the day temperatures continue to remain above normal with the warmest November day on 01st and  07th, recording 33 degrees. The last time Delhi recorded  a higher maximum temperature in the month was on 04th Nov 2008, at 33.5deg.

Western disturbance is marked over Jammu & Kashmir with an induced cyclonic circulation over the plains. Courtesy partly cloudy sky and moderate winds, the day temperature has since returned to normal.  Easterly winds will ensure the night temperature to stay above normal. Sky is expected to turn cloudy towards night and light rain is likely during late night and early morning hours. Morning temperatures are likely to take a dip after 48 hours.
