Weather conditions in Delhi and the NCR region have been playing their own games. While the days are warm enough for one to ditch those sweaters, as the night progresses, the quilt becomes a necessity.

Delhi is at present witnessing slightly below normal night temperatures. In fact, the minimum at present is at 8.9 degrees which is a notch below the usual levels. As far as the days are concerned, the maximum temperature is at least two degrees above the normal levels at 24.6 degrees.

Thus, the difference between both the maximum and the minimum temperatures is around 16 degrees, which means the diurnal variation is quite high. These weather conditions can be attributed to the clear weather conditions.

During the daytime, the sun comes resulting in warm afternoons. However, the long wave radiation due to clear weather results in the cooling of the ground surface. Thus, during the night time the temperatures witness a sharp drop.

During the next few days, the diurnal variation will continue to be on the higher side. However, the nights will become slightly more pleasant as the minimums are expected to increase by three to four degrees. In fact, the day temperature will also increase due to which maximums may settle around 28 degrees.

These conditions will be attributed to the approach of a Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas which will prevail over the region until February 19.
