Delhi observes driest and warmest February in a decadeDelhi and the NCR region have been observing warm weather conditions for the past few days.

While the first few days remained cold, the last few days have given us a sneak peak of how the scorching summer heat will soon show its true colours.

For the past few days, both the day and night temperatures have been way above the average levels.

While days have been warm enough to get rid of the entire winter wardrobe, ceiling fans have started to be used during the nights.

This February, rains have also given Delhi-NCR a miss. February is considered to be one of the rainiest winter months. Also, there has been times when the city has even exceeded the 100mm rainfall mark in the month of February itself.

However, this year had an entirely different story to tell. The average monthly rainfall for the month of February stands at 22.1 mm. This month Delhi-NCR could only receive 1.2 mm rainfall making February 2016 the driest month in the last decade.

The story doesn’t end here, February has also been the warmest in the past ten years. As per the data available with Skymet, from February 24 to 28, the city has recorded the highest maximums in a decade. Also, most of these temperatures have been above the 30-degree mark.

Take a look at the table below for maximums from February 24 to 28 during the last ten years in degree Celsius.
