As the western disturbance moved away, cool northerly winds from the hills of north India helped in pulling down minimum temperatures in many parts of the country. “Our forecast show, minimums have dropped by 2 to 3 degrees in Delhi and other major cities within 24hours”, says Head of the Meteorological team, Mahesh Palawat.
Tuesday morning in the capital city was very cool and breezy as the minimum temperature dropped by 2 degrees and settled at 22.8⁰C as opposed to 24.8⁰C on Monday.
Other cities to have recorded a drop in the minimums, were, Amritsar- 20⁰C(3degrees below normal) Ludhiana- 20⁰C (3degrees below normal), Karnal- 20⁰C (4degrees below normal), Hisar- 20⁰C(4degrees below normal) and Bareilly -22⁰C(2degrees below normal).
Other than light rain, there have also been reports of snowfall in the hills of Himachal Pradesh where the minimums have fallen by 5 to 8 degrees.
“Barring parts of Rajasthan, below normal minimums are expected to maintain in Delhi and north India for next couple of days. Moreover, due to these cool northerly winds, maximum temperatures are also expected to drop marginally, by a degree or two in many parts of the country”, adds Palawat.
Further, we are told, mornings and evenings will be the only delightful time of the day and the afternoons will continue to be hot and sunny with maximum temperature settling between 32 to 35 degrees Celsius.
