As we know, a pretty strong weather system in the form of a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northern Himalayas and adjoining region by the next 24 hours. It is also likely to induce a Cyclonic Circulation over Southwest Rajasthan. Both the systems will then move further eastwards.
Winds are likely to remain very light in the next 24 hours to follow. Change in winds pattern is likely thereafter and winds will be southerly/southeasterly. Morning temperatures will further increase, and day will also be slightly warm. Haziness will prevail during the day.
Clouding will gradually increase over the area and may witness more and more clouds towards afternoon/evening. A spell of thunderstorm may occur by night. Mainly light to moderate rain and thundershower activity will follow and will intensify by January 21. Isolated pockets of the state might even receive hailstorm with strong gusty winds. The activity will continue up to January 22.
Already an alert has been issued against the upcoming weather-
Rain and thunder shower at many places with heavy spells and hail storm associated with strong gusty wind at few places over Central, East, New Delhi, North, North East, North West, Shahdara, South, South East, South West and West Delhi- Skymet Weather
Towards Jan 22, the day temperatures would have dropped significantly. Pollution level is likely to go up tomorrow onward.
Since, last many days the National Capital of Delhi is observing mainly dry weather. Last 24 hours as well didn’t enclose any precipitation for the Delhi area and the city remained dry. Apart from this, shallow to moderate fog was observed at many places yesterday. If we talk about visibility, the Palam Observatory recorded a visibility of 200 meters during the morning hours. Presently light south-westerly/variable winds are blowing over the region which has led to an increase in night temperatures by one to two degree Celsius.
