Updated on July 7, 2017: Delhi rains have been playing hide and seek with residents for quite some time now. There are days when rain gods do bestow some kindness over the national capital, while there are others when the city witnesses hot and humid weather.
The last 24 hours were on the better side of the coin as the national capital witnessed some good showers. The late evening and night hours saw some good rainfall in many parts of the city.

In fact, a few sharp spells of rains were seen in areas including Chandni Chowk, RK Puram, Connaught Place, Vasant Vihar and other adjoining areas.
In the last 21 hours from 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Palam observatory recorded 7 mm of rainfall.
As per Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours also, the national capital is expected to witness on and off rainfall activity. However, humid conditions will continue to persist over the city.

Not only this, humidity levels have also increased over Delhi and its adjoining regions, making hard for the residents to bear the heat. The reason for this situation can be given to the deficiency of rains along with the presence of easterly winds over the region.
The last 24 hours were also not very different over Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad as the weather remained more or less dry. However, today morning was somewhat breezy with few clouds over the national capital. Hence it is expected that these clouds may pour some light rain and thundershowers, bringing some respite to the locals.

This weather condition can be attributed to a trough that extends from North Punjab to East India. Besides this, a Western Disturbance is also seen over North Jammu and Kashmir and its induced cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining area.
As a result, Delhiites may expect thundery activity and rains that will be in isolated parts, short-lived and of light intensity only. As of now, heavy showers are not foreseen to show up over the region as well as not much change in temperature profile is anticipated.
