Delhi and the NCR region have been witnessing good Monsoon rains for the past 24 hours. While these showers had taken a break in between bringing back hot and humid conditions, rain gods have once again decided to bestow the national capital region with some kindness.
Yesterday, several parts of the national capital along with many areas in the NCR region witnessed good rains during the evening hours. While this may have been a good news for quite a few who had been asking for some good rains, many commuters couldn’t have asked for any less.
Traffic woes once again made a comeback and several areas in the city were jam packed with crawling cars. Many areas in South Delhi including Greater Kailash 2, Moti Bagh, Hyatt Regency saw heavy traffic. Traffic was on a standstill over many areas of Ashram Marg, Mandi House, Sarai Kale Khan and a few other parts.
Waterlogging was reported over many areas of Gurugram including the iconic Hero Honda Chowk which was flooded causing massive traffic turmoil about a month ago.
At present, the axis of the Monsoon is expected to shift towards the north resulting in an increase in the rainfall activity over Delhi-NCR. A cyclonic circulation is also present over Madhya Pradesh further enhancing the rains over the national capital.
These Monsoon rains are expected to continue for another 24 to 48 hours. In fact, the month of August may end on a rainy note over the national capital.
