The weather in the Northwest states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR has been dry for a long period. However, this dry spell is going to break as an active Western Disturbance has approached the state of Jammu and Kashmir which is going to affect the northwest plains.
As had been forecast by Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance has already approached Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, isolated light rains have occurred in Jammu and Kashmir during the last 21 hours.
In the wake of this Western Disturbance, a Cyclonic Circulation has formed over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan due to which we expect light rains at a few places in the western and northern parts of the Rajasthan.
By tomorrow, rain will also cover the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. North Haryana and the northern districts of Punjab might receive heavy spell along with isolated hailstorm activity.
We expect the rainfall activity to continue until December 13 in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Northeast Rajasthan as well as parts of Uttar Pradesh.
By December 14, the weather activities will subside from the entire region. This is when the day temperature will fall significantly in the northern plains as well as in the hills. The night temperatures will also take a plunge. Widespread moderate to dense fog will appear in the plains once the rains have disappeared.
