Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai to receive rain from June 12 -13

From the time when pre-Monsoon rain in India begins, all eyes are set on the sky to see the first signs of Monsoon. Monsoon rain in India is not only eagerly awaited by farmers who rely on rainwater for a productive season but by others as well who just wait to escape the oppressive summer heat by getting drenched in the heavy downpour.

The pre-Monsoon season in India ended on rainy note owing to Cyclone Roanu, paving way for rainy days in Kerala and other parts of West Coast. Southwest Monsoon has set foot in Kerala and with this, Monsoon 2016 is expected to spread its footprint across the country, steadily.

The approaching weekend will once again be a fine spectator to partly cloudy days and rainy evenings in four major cities of India.

Rain in Chennai

June is typically not a rainy month for Chennai with monthly average remaining confined to 56 mm with mean number of rainy days close to 4 during a month. However, after making a rare appearance in May owing to the Cyclone Roanu, Chennai Rains touched unprecedented levels in June as well. The city has received more than its monthly average rainfall in a matter of just a few days.The cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal along with the active Monsoon surge lingering over Peninsular India is responsible for Chennai rains since last few days.

The capital city of Tamil Nadu will continue to receive on and off showers during next few days owing to the above-mentioned weather systems.

Mumbai Rains 

Monsoon in India is the most enjoyed and hated season in Mumbai. The four-month long period is mostly observed by heavy rains, submerged roads and flood like situation in low-lying areas. However, so far Mumbai has remained devoid of any Mumbai rains and dry weather has been prevailing for over a month.

Though the approaching weekend is likely to bring good news for Mumbaikars as Monsoon is drawing closer to Mumbai. Starting June 11, 'Mumbai rains' is likely to give a glimpse of its arrival over Mumbai with June 12 and June 13 witnessing continuous rain owing to possible arrival of Monsoon.

Rain in Delhi

Delhi had been witnessing a mix of weather activities in past few weeks of May where once it witnessed record-breaking maximum temperature and hottest day of the season, while after that Delhi rejoiced with moderate pre-Monsoon rains that provide most desired relief from the sweltering heat. June has so far remained dry in Delhi but the weekend would bring relief from the summer heat. Light rain is likely on 12th evening that could spill over to 13th June as well.

Bangalore Rains 

Bangalore has been blessed with good pre-Monsoon showers that have been taking place frequently in May. June has also fared well with moderate rain. Southwest Monsoon that has covered Bangalore will continue to give light to moderate rain over Bangalore throughout next week. Bangalore rains are expected to commence once again from June 12 onwards till the end of next week.

Ahead of Monsoon, these pre-Monsoon activities will be common in these major metro cities and other nearby places.
