Delhi temperature has been hovering close to 10°C for the last 3 days. Base observatory at Safdarjung recorded minimum temperature of 10.1°C, 10.3°C and 10°C on 14th, 15th and 16thNovember respectively. These temperatures are about 4°C below the average and therefore rather early for the national capital to slide in to chilly side.
Some parts of Delhi have plunged further to nearly go to single digit this morning. Ayanagar and Mungeshpur recorded 9.2°C and 9.8°C respectively, about 5°C below the normal. The meteorological office at Lodhi Road also measured 10°C today morning.
As per 5 day normal ( pentad ) chart for Delhi, the month begins with a low of 15°C and ends on a chilly note by clocking 11°C during last few days. Earlier, in few years, the capital city remained more than 10°C during the entire month of November, in the recent past.
November 2020 had been the coldest in the last 71 years with a mean minimum temperature of 10.2°C, against the normal of 12.9°C. A record low of 6.3°C was measured on 23Nov2020, the lowest in last few decades.
Delhi is not likely to get any rainfall in the next 10 days. Wind pattern will remain northwesterly on most days. This will be conducive for retaining the minimum temperature close to 10°C for the next few days.
Local conditions may slide it further down by 1°C and reach single digit. Chilly night and pleasantly warm afternoon is going to be a regular feature for the week and extend till the end of month with further plunge of minimum temperatures.
