Delhi May Have Light Rain Tonight- Tomorrow Morning, Temperature Drop Expected

The national capital observed light showers on Monday night, recording 3mm rainfall. As expected, rains skipped the city yesterday and therefore the day warmth was retained with maximum temperature holding at 28.1°C, about 3°C above the normal. The minimum temperatures also remained in double digits, on the expected lines. Delhi and its suburbs may have a brief spell of light rain, tonight and tomorrow morning.

Western disturbance is still marked over the northern hills, albeit become mild, over the past 24 hours. The cyclonic circulation, earlier marked over Punjab, is now lying as a weak system over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and the Delhi region. The circulatory pattern of winds with an east-west trough still persists, close to Delhi. Features are not pronounced but still have the potential to result in light rains, over and around the national capital and suburbs.

Light rain and showers are likely, late in the night and wee hours of tomorrow. The last spell on Monday night also observed a similar pattern. The day will continue to be warm but the maximum dropping a little lower than yesterday. This trend will continue, even tomorrow. Over the next 3-4 days, say by the upcoming weekend, the mercury level will hover around 25°C during the afternoon and possibly drop to a single digit of 9°C, in the morning hours.

Chances of rain for the capital city are not authentic. Delhi falls on the outer peripherals of the main system. Clouds are likely to come up, a little late tonight, with a possibility of a flash of lightning. Light rain, if at all, will be there only for a brief duration, just good enough to wet the roads and streets. Whatever small threat of winter rains for the national capital will recede by tomorrow afternoon. A clear sky is expected on Thursday, during the evening hours. A sheet of medium clouds may reappear over the weekend, on 24th and 25th Feb.
