Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan to remain fog free, to return around Jan 25

Dense fog has taken a backseat in most parts of the western half of the Indo-Gangetic Plains. However, shallow to moderate fog has been making appearances at isolated pockets of the region. On the other hand, parts of the eastern half of the Indo-Gangetic region are still reeling under dense to very dense fog conditions.

In fact, the visibility today dropped to less than 25 meters in Bahraich, Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Muzaffarpur, Supaul, Bhagalpur, and Purnea.

As per Skymet Weather, due to an approach of the Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayan region, an induced cyclonic circulation has formed over northwest Rajasthan. Due to this, the warm and humid southeasterly winds have started to blow over many parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

In the wake of these warm and humid southeasterly winds, the moisture content has increased thereby resulting in the extension of the fog belt from East Uttar Pradesh to West Uttar Pradesh. Many parts of central and West Uttar Pradesh may also get engulfed in dense to very dense fog layer.

Moderate fog with isolated dense fog may also affect Delhi and NCR.

Meanwhile, parts of Delhi, Haryana, and North Rajasthan are expected to receive rains tomorrow. By tomorrow afternoon, clouding is expected to increase over Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. Thus, rain and thundershowers are also expected during that period. Fog will abate for a short duration from the northwestern plains on January 24 due to scattered rain and cloud cover thereby raising the minimums.

As the humidity will increase significantly due to rain activity, fog may make a comeback and the intensity will increase over Delhi and NCR, Haryana and North Rajasthan on January 25 and 26.
