Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad to witness satisfactory pollution levels soon

Pollution over Delhi and NCR area has slightly increased in the last 24 hours. This statement can be supported with the fact that the major areas of Delhi such as Chandni Chowk and Delhi University have been recording pollution under ‘poor to very poor’ category since yesterday.

Talking about Air Quality Index, then AQI has been recorded at 316 over Chandni Chowk while at 320 over Delhi University.

However, for PM 10 values, the pollution levels are under ‘moderate’ category for most of the places, as opposite to PM 2.5 which is recording under ‘poor to very poor’ category. For places like Pusa and IGI Airport, both PM 10 and 2.5 values are under ‘moderate’ category at present.

According to Skymet Weather, the level of pollution would have increased much more. However, due to overnight rains, it continued to remain under ‘moderate to poor’ category for most of the places and under ‘very poor’ category at only one or two places.

Although, winds have become light in the last 24 hours, but all thanks to overnight rains that have compensated the situation and allowed pollution to maintain its level and not increase further. However, situation would have been different if there had been a combination of both rains and strong winds, because then the pollution would have come under ‘satisfactory’ category for most places.

Further, as we predict more rains over Delhi and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad in the coming days, pollution is also expected to improve and upgrade its level to ‘satisfactory’ category.
