Delhiites have been enjoying a rainy weekend since Friday evening. While last weekend also turned out be a rainy affair, this time, the rains are more intense.
On Saturday, March 13, during the morning hours, parts of Delhi-NCR also recorded hailstorm. Social media platforms were flooded with pictures of hail and rain.
During the evening hours also, good showers were observed over several parts of the national capital. Areas including Noida, Ghaziabad, South Delhi, and Gurgaon observed good rains. The Safdrajung observatory recorded 2 mm of rain in a span of 24 hours.
However, Delhiites woke up to a sunny Sunday morning, conditions have been clear since the. But, during late afternoon, one or two spells of rain may occur in a few areas. The possibility of good showers cannot be ruled out.
Rainfall intensity will significantly reduce over Delhi on Monday. Conditions will become dry again. The temperatures which have dropped over the region may remain the same for a day or two.

After rainy Friday evening, Delhi woke up to a rainy morning on Saturday. Moreover, it was not just showers, hailstorm was also observed across most parts of Delhi-NCR.
We expect more rains as we progress further in the day.
According to Skymet Weather, sky will remain cloudy during most part the day, along with chances of thundersquall and hailstorm.
Rain made its appearance over the national capital on Friday afternoon, paving way for pleasant weather. Palam observatory has recorded 14.1 mm of rain in span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday. With this, it has surpassed the monthly average rainfall of 13.2 mm.
While, Safdarjung Observatory recorded 9.1 mm of rain. So far, this observatory has recorded 15.1 mm of rain and has almost reached its normal average rainfall of 15.9 mm.
The weather activity can be attributed to the active Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab region.
Both the systems will continue to move in east-northeast direction, pouring more rain over Delhi during next 24 hours.
In wake of the rain activity and cloud cover, we do not expect day temperatures to cross 30°C. However despite of rain on Friday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C that was four degrees above normal. This was because the mercury had soared to mid 30s by the time the showers lashed the city.
Last year, similar weather conditions prevailed in Delhi during March. The first half of March mostly received rain. March ended on a rainy note with good showers lashing the national capital and keeping temperatures under check.
Updated on March 11, 2016 12:30 PM (IST): Delhi gears up for second consecutive rainy weekend
After rains last weekend, Delhi-NCR is gearing up for another spell of good rains this weekend as well. Rains are likely to commence around late evening of March 11.
Thereafter, intensity of rains will pick up and good showers will continue over the national capital on March 12 and 13. Some places are likely to receive moderate showers, with one or two odd heavy spells.
According to Skymet Weather, intermittent rains are likely to lash entire city during next 48 hours, with isolated sharp and short spells of heavy showers. But intensity of rain will be more during evening and night hours.
There is also a possibility of thundersqualls over some places as well.
The city has received 6 mm of rain, so far. And with these rains approaching, the city is likely to surpass its monthly average rainfall of 16 mm.
We can already see the cloud cover since Friday morning and in wake of this activity, the day temperatures will not rise above normal.
Delhi has been witnessing above normal maximum temperatures for the last two days. In absence of any rain activity throughout the week, day maximums had been showing rising trend.
On Thursday, city recorded day temperature of 31.1°C at Safdarjung Observatory that was two degrees above normal. While, Palam Observatory observed 32.2°C, three degrees above normal.
However, this fresh spell of rain will restrict the mercury from soaring beyond 30°C.
