Delhi gears up for more rains with Monsoon in offing

After recording good rains on Monday, Delhi is all set to witness some more rains during the next few days as well. The national capital has already witnessed some traces of rain on Tuesday afternoon but skies remain cloudy throughout the day.

According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions are quite favourable for more rain and thundershowers during the next 2-3 days. Showers will be patchy and short but will be intense in nature. We can also witness thunderstorm and dust storm activity during the period.

The ongoing spell can be attributed to several weather systems prevailing across the country. The cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas will be moving in north-northeast direction towards East Uttar Pradesh.

Apart from this, two more circulations are prevailing over Punjab and Bihar in north and east regions, respectively. A trough is extending through all these systems along the entire Indo-Gangetic plains in close proximity of Delhi.

These fresh rains have also restricted the day temperatures from crossing 40-degree mark, which are now settling in high 30s. On Tuesday, Safdarjung Observatory recorded day maximum at 39°C, while Palam Observatory recorded 39°C.

Monsoon is around the corner and has already reached over the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh. In wake of this, pre-Monsoon showers are likely to pick up pace now onwards.

This year, Monsoon is expected to make onset over Delhi around its official date of June 29 with error margin of two days.
