Delhi fog makes a comeback resulting in poor visibility; pollution levels to increase

After a very long gap, dense fog has engulfed Delhi and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. Currently, the visibility at Palam is 100 meters. The visibility level at runway-28 is 150 meters, while runway-29 has fractionally better visibility of 300 meters. Major flight delays are expected in this scenario.

The sudden appearance of fog has been attributed to the recent rain and thundershower activities over Delhi and NCR. The rains increased the humidity levels over the region, which along with low/calm winds led to fog in most parts of Northwest India including Delhi and its neighbouring areas.

The visibility will improve as the day progresses. But till then the pollution levels are expected to increase and AQI may come under poor category, which for many days was consistently settling in the moderate to satisfactory category.

Tomorrow onward wind speed is expected to increase again, clearing fog and pollution in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.
