National capital has been witnessing fluctuating weather conditions during the last week of November. Temperature pendulum has been swinging across 10°C mark, keeping marginally above or below the normal for the last one week. Base observatory Safdarjung recorded the minimum temperature of 9.8°C today, against 10.3°C of yesterday. These are normal temperatures for this time of the month.
Delhi recorded lowest of 9.2°C on 24thNov during this month. The mercury remained below 10°C on 5days : 17, 21, 24, 25 and 30 Nov. No rainfall was recorded during this period against the normal of 4.9mm. Mean minimum temperature for the month was marginally below its average of 12.9°C. The maximum temperature remained below the 30°C mark throughout, except on 01stNov 2021 when the mercury rose to 31.2°C.
A feeble western disturbance, mainly seen as trough in the medium and higher levels, is moving across Jammu & Kashmir. Its interaction with another weather system over northeast Arabian Sea and Gujarat, is likely to change the wind pattern in the next 48hr. Accordingly, marginal rise in the minimum temperature is expected. Also, an active western disturbance, the 1st of this season, is likely to arrive on 04thDecember 2021.
Its induced cyclonic circulation over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi is likely to bring first spell of clouds and rain for the national capital. Rain and thundershowers with hailstorm at few places is expected over the plains of North India. Delhi/NCR is likely to witness light rain on 04th and 06th December.
In between, on 05th December, spread and intensity of these showers will increase. Lightening and thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds and hailstorm in some areas is quite likely during evening and night.
