Delhi continues choking today as well, rains and winds to bring some relief soon

November 24, 2019 9:28 AM | Skymet Weather Team

As had been forecast by weathermen at Skymet, Delhi pollution has improved a bit during the last 24 hours. At present, PM 10 is in moderate category over most places in Delhi and NCR. However, PM 2.5 is still in ‘very poor’ to ‘poor’ category.

We expect similar pollution conditions to continue for another 24 hours over the region. Although, there may be a marginal improvement due to moderate winds from West and Northwest direction. Also, we expect isolated to scattered rain activities over the region tomorrow. On and off rains are expected to continue until November 27 over Delhi and NCR which will help in reducing the pollution. Many parts of Rajasthan, some parts of Haryana, as well as Punjab will also receive light to moderate rain and thundershower activities.

These fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities will certainly help in reducing pollution. However, it depends mostly on the intensity of rain over Delhi NCR. If the region receives good rains, then the pollutants are sure to get washed away completely and the pollution may come down to moderate category in most places. PM 2.5 will also improve significantly if the rain intensity is good enough over Delhi and NCR.

After November 27, the Western Disturbance will move away, and the winds will once again start blowing from Northwest direction with moderate intensity. During that time, we expect further improvement in pollution levels over Delhi and NCR.
