Winter rains are all set to appear in Delhi and NCR area today. The conditions are favourable as the winds have changed their direction to easterlies. Moreover, due to overnight clouding, the minimum temperatures have increased by 2-3 degree Celcius.
According to our meteorologists, the rainfall activities are likely to commence by today afternoon in Delhi and its adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. The winter showers are likely to appear tomorrow as well. There is a possibility of isolated hailstorm on both days.
In the meantime, due to increased cloud cover and subsequent rain, the day temperatures are expected to drop significantly but minimums might settle above normal for another 24 hours.
These weather conditions would be a result of an active Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced Cyclonic Circulation over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan.
By December 14, rains will vacate the region completely as the systems are likely to lose their strength. The passage of WD would clear the track for icy chilly winds from the snow-clad Himalayas.
These winds would be instrumental in intensifying winters over the northwestern plains. ‘Moderate to dense’ fog resulting in low visibility levels is expected to form post this rainy episode.
