The national capital, Delhi and its neighbouring cities like Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad have been receiving on and off rain and thundershower activities since the last two days. In fact, hailstorm activity was also witnessed in some parts of Delhi-NCR during this period.
However, Delhi’s Palam area has not observed much rainfall activity due to the weather system remaining confined to southern, eastern and central parts of the city.
Now a cyclonic circulation lies over Northwest Rajasthan and a trough is extending from this circulation up to Uttar Pradesh across Delhi-NCR. Therefore, we can say that the conditions are still favourable for rain and thundershowers in Delhi and areas in its close proximity. The intensity will however be light with one or two moderate spells.

Till late night, weather activity in terms of rain will affect Delhi-NCR. Thereafter, the trough will become insignificant and the cyclonic circulation will also fade away due to the eastward movement of the Western Disturbance. Weather will start clearing up and by tomorrow we expect northwesterly cold winds to prevail over the region. In the wake of these winds, minimum temperatures of the region will also drop significantly during the next 48 hours.
Another spell of rain and thundershowers is expected over Delhi-NCR between March 2 and 3. This rainy spell will commence in association with another fresh Western Disturbance approaching the northern hills and its induced cyclonic circulation affecting the northern plains.
Pollution levels over Delhi-NCR are still under moderate to satisfactory category. In the wake of the commencement of cold northwesterly winds, we except similar conditions to prevail for the coming days as well. Some places like Chandni Chowk may however observe poor AQI.
