Delhi and NCR to witness dust storm and thundershower around April 5

Dry weather conditions are persisting in Delhi and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad for the last couple of days. On Saturday, dust storm activity along with light thundershower was observed in few parts of the National Capital Region.

Yesterday, Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory recorded 35.3˚C as the day temperature. Now we expect the maximums in Delhi-NCR to rise and touch 38˚C soon.

Now a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the hills of North India. This system will induce a cyclonic circulation over western parts of Rajasthan and a trough will extend up to Uttar Pradesh across Delhi and NCR.

Therefore, on April 5 and 6, we expect thunderstorm and dust storm activity accompanied with patchy rains in parts of Delhi and adjoining Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

In the wake of the dust storm activity, wind speed may reach up to 40-50 kmph. As the pre-Monsoon season has commenced the intensity of such weather activities will also keep increasing.

During the rainy spell, day temperatures over the entire region will drop marginally. This will lead to some relief from the ongoing heat.

After the passage of the Western Disturbance on April 7, minimum temperatures will drop due to the flow of northerly winds. However, from April 8, dry weather conditions will start to prevail once again, and maximum temperatures will start rising.
