Ending the prolonged dry spell, Monsoon rains are all set to revisit Delhi again. According to Skymet Weather, few spell of good rains are likely to drench the national capital on Wednesday.
Cloudy sky can be seen since early morning hours. Moreover, slight breeze have made the weather pleasant.
These rains can be attributed to the low pressure area which is presently seen over Northeast Madhya Pradesh. The system will now shift over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southwest Uttar Pradesh, close to south of Delhi.
In addition to this, the axis of Monsoon trough is also running through the center of the system that will further enhance the rains.
Thereafter, intensity of rains will reduce over Delhi on Thursday but isolated light rains cannot be ruled out. However, rains are likely to pick up pace again around the weekend as the above-mentioned weather systems will start weakening. Another low pressure area over Kutch region and South Rajasthan will also lose its strength.
Till now, both the systems had kept the Monsoon trough southwards but with the systems weakening, Monsoon trough will now move north and affect the northern plains.
Though the city has been witnessing on and off isolated rains during the last few days but significant rains have been missing. So far, Safdarjung Observatory in Delhi has recorded 75.3 mm of rain against the monthly average of 232.5 mm.
Meanwhile, Palam Observatory has performed better than this and has received 105.5 mm of rain till now against the normal average of 188.7 mm.
