In the last few days, many places of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand has received good rainfall and landslide type situation has been observed in some pockets. While scattered rains were seen in Jammu and Kashmir. Even in the last 24 hours as well, few heavy spells have been recorded in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Like for instance, Srinagar recorded 36 mm of rains while Una, Mandi, Tehri witnessed 51 mm, 26 mm and 16 mm of rains respectively in the past 24 hours
A Western Disturbance is presently lying over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir as an upper air system. Its induced Cyclonic Circulation is seen over Punjab. Thus, rainfall activities are likely to continue at many places of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours with isolated heavy spells. This activity is likely to reduce over Jammu and Kashmir as the system is likely to move further eastward. However, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will continue with moderate activities even after 24hours. Dharamshala, Shimla, Solan, Nahan, Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Pantnagar, Chamba, Una, Srinagar, and Jammu are likely to see good rains during the next 24 to 48 hours
With these rains, chances of the landslide cannot be ruled out over the hilly states of the country. This can further lead to blockage over the National highways and roadways.
