Ever since the Northeast Monsoon has stepped in India, the South Indian states of the country have not been fortunate enough to witness good showers.
Almost the entire south peninsular region has received very less rainfall and all the states in the South Indian region fall under scanty rainfall category.
The rainfall statistics make it very clear that the southern peninsular India has been a rain deficient area from October 1 till November 11. During this time, Tamil Nadu is 68% rain deficient, Telangana is rain deficient by 34%, rain deficiency of Andhra Pradesh is 78%, Karnataka is rain deficient by 77% and Kerala by 60%.

Hence, it can be said that till now Northeast Monsoon has been very weak though scattered rains are going on over parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and at a few places over Rayalaseema and Karnataka. Though the spread and intensity of rain has been very less.
There is no doubt in the fact that the entire southern peninsula is under the influence of drought like conditions. Moreover, no significant increase in the intensity of rainfall is expected over the above-mentioned region.
Already lack of rain has impacted several crops in these regions. Crops like pepper, cardamom, tea and coffee have faced lower production owing to shortfall of rain.
