The states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal are one of the most deficient pockets in the country as of now. There has been some recovery on account of some decent showers but they still remain deficient.
West Bengal is rain deficient by 29 percent, Jharkhand is rain deficient by 36, and Bihar is deficient by 29 percent. We do expect light to moderate showers today as well as tomorrow as the Monsoon trough is north of its normal position. Day after tomorrow also, some showers are expected, which may result in the reduction of the deficient figures. Whenever the Monsoon trough shifts north of its normal position, rains do increase over the foothills as well as the plains of East India.
However, with the trough line shifting and the pattern shifting, rains may reduce after August 13. Also, a Cyclonic Circulation is coming up far to the north of the Bay of Bengal, which is not its normal position, this may also result in lesser rains over the region.
